CONFERENCE VENUE
The University of California
Los Angeles (UCLA) has been chosen as the
site for the 13th International Workshop on Sol-Gel Science and
Technology 2005. To view all the many offerings of the campus, including
maps, directories, other information and additional links, please click

prompts.
Conference Meeting Room:
You may view the conference location in Sunset Village’s Covel Commons through the UCLA Conference Services
website atconferences.ucla.edu, as well
as the sleeping accommodations. In addition, you will see maps of this
particular area of campus as well as driving directions. Sessions will be held in the
state-of-the-art lecture auditorium which seats 430.
Dining:
Guests dine in spacious, beautifully designed dining rooms with panoramic
views of the campus. Meals are “all you care to eat” and feature
market-style self-serve dining. You may also view the dining facilities
and menu items for the days of the conference at our dining website atdining.ucla.edu.
Recreation:
Guests staying in our accommodations may enjoy, at no additional cost, a
variety of activities at the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center with its
park-like setting, outdoor pools, and tennis courts. Also available is
the John Wooden Center, complete with
fitness and weight training equipment, a rock climbing wall, basketball,
volleyball, racquet ball, handball, and squash courts.
Enlightenment and Popular Culture:
UCLA has numerous points of interest right on campus. Guests may enjoy
the Armand hammer Museum of Art, the Fowler
Museum of Cultural History, the Powell Library, and Ackerman Union with
the UCLA Store, featuring official “Bruin” clothing, gifts, and
souvenirs. For those wishing to shop on-line at the UCLA Store, you may

Location: UCLA campus is located on the west
side of Los Angeles, adjacent to Westwood Village where visitors
will find a variety of interesting restaurants, shops, and movie
theaters. The campus is approximately 12 miles from the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and a
short drive to some of southern California’s most popular
beaches. Local shopping and entertainment areas include Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Santa Monica, Century City, and Hollywood. The J. Paul
Getty Museum and Universal Studios are just a few of the nearby
attractions.
